We will be closely following the guidance of the CDC and IL health officials around "close contacts", quarantine/testing needs, communication, and mitigation measures on the court. Changes to our programs will be made if or when needed in order to adhere to the latest guidelines as they pertain to COVID-19. If there are any program cancellations due to possible Covid exposures, facility issues, or the need to meet city and state health measures, PHH will provide credit for future basketball activities or refunds in broader shutdowns.
PLAY HARD HOOPS PROTOCOLS REGARDING COVID-19
HEALTH SCREENINGS
Staff, coaches, officials and players must conduct daily symptom assessments (self-evaluation). Staff, coaches, officials or players who have experienced any Covid-19 CDC-defined symptons, including fever, cough or shortness of breath, should stay home. Any individual exhibiting such symptons will be asked to leave immediately. If any staff member, coach, official or player lives with or has been in close contact with someone who has had a recent fever, cough or sore throat; and/or is presently being quarantined or otherwise ill or exposed to Covid-19, that individual must stay home. A temperature check will be provided upon entry to our facilities
TRAVEL
Athletes are strongly recommended to travel to the venue alone or in car pools with friends.
SHARED EQUIPMENT
Athletes should bring their own equipment to the extent possible. Any shared equipment will continue to be cleaned and disinfected frequently.
HYDRATION
All players and coaches should bring their own water bottles. Water bottles shall not be shared. Water fountains are now available at most locations, but PHH recommends only using water bottles
PRACTICE
Coaches will keep players in appropriate groups and try to maintain distancing between different age groups
MULTIPLE TIME SLOTS
Programs will clean between time slots and there could be a 5 minute buffer between entry of the next group
GAME BALL(S)
Will be disinfected before and after every practice and game.
HUDDLES
Players will not huddle at any point during the games or practices. Sportsmanship will continue in a touchless manner – no handshakes/slaps/fist bumps after games.
PERSONAL PROTECTION FOR COACHES/STAFF
Coaches and staff are required to wear a face mask when in close contact with players throughout the program, but vaccinated coaches will not be wearing masks when distanced from players while instructing.
PERSONAL PROTECTION FOR PARTICIPANTS
Players are required to wear a face mask (please use a mask over a gator) when entering and exiting the facility. Fully vaccinated players will no longer need to wear a mask during activity, but non vaccinated players will continue wearing a mask during activity until it is no longer recommended for non vaccinated individuals to wear masks indoors or while playing sports indoors. Players will have freedom to go to assigned seating at anytime and not wear the mask while hydrating or needing a break
SANITATION STATIONS
"Sanitation Stations" including hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be made available at entry/exit of facilities, where possible.
HANDWASHING
Staff, coaches, officials and players should wash their hands before arriving at games and to use hand sanitizer periodically.
IN THE EVENT OF A POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE
All staff and participants will be notified in the event of a reported positive case. PHH will report such case immediately to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the facility, and reach out to all families that may have had a possible exposure within their program pod.
