PROGRAM FAQ:
Rookie Skills (K-2nd Grade)
This is a great introduction to basketball fundamentals as PHH coaches will focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game: ball handling, shooting, passing and defense, as well as providing young players a greater understanding of rules and basketball strategy. The program will add 15-25 minutes of competitive game play and separate by age and skill level.
Developmental Skills (3rd-5th Grade)
This program is for beginner to advanced players as we will separate into age and skill appropriate groups. In addition to building on fundamentals, more advanced basketball concepts will be showcased, like dribbling/passing through pressure, transition offense/defense, proper defensive rotations and more. The program adds 15-25 minutes of controlled game play with PHH Coaches directing and helping players improve basketball IQ.
Advanced Skills (6th-8th Grade)
Our older/advanced age groups can expect a competitive and encouraging environment, with weekly sessions modeled after high school practices. Coaches will emphasize the importance of running drills and skill work at game-speed, with more complex team-concepts being implemented as well. Players will be split into age and skill appropriate groups and each session will finish with controlled but competitive game play.
Play Hard Hoops weekly skills classes are offered Monday-Thursday at various gym locations throughout the week, including: Ela Sports Complex, Adversity Sports, Wheeling Park District, Canlan Sports Libertyville, Canlan Sports Lake Barrington and more.
Players are grouped by age and appropriate skill level to ensure balanced and fair competition for all participants.
