Play Hard Hoops is set to start its 2nd year of basketball programming after an extremely successful first year. Adelman has dedicated 21 years to teaching the game of basketball to kids. His diverse experience has seen him coach basketball at the high school, collegiate and professional level. Adelman has also served as a high level basketball instructor teaching boys and girls from PreK-12th grade through his Hoops Education Basketball Camps, weekly classes, shooting classes, clinics and personal lessons. Adelman worked with over a thousand kids in his first year at Play Hard Hoops and some of the first year highlights were: A Fall Developmental League with almost 80 participants, 12 basketball classes for kids ages K-6th Grade, a successuful Winter Break Sports Camp, First Annual Master's Basketball Madness, two 100-team tournaments, and seven basketball camps in 4 different locations including the Windy City Fieldhouse that had 147 participants. Adelman served as an assistant coach at the Division 1 level for Loyola University Chicago and Duquesne University for seven years. He then moved on as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he helped Coach Jack Bennett lead the Pointers to a 45-10 record, two Conference Championships and an NCAA appearance. Adelman was then afforded an opportunity to be an Assistant Coach and General Manager of the Westchester Wildfire, a new franchise in the USBL (United States Basketball League) in 2001. He assisted former New York Knick John Starks in leading the Wildfire to back-to-back winning seasons and a 20-12 record and final four playoff appearance in its first year. Adelman also served as an assistant coach for the nationally ranked St Raymonds HS program in New York where he helped St Ray’s win the City Championship and finish third in the State in 2004. Adelman has also coached Internationally in the prestigious World Maccabiah Games winning three gold medals (2 in the Pan American Games) and a Silver Medal in the 2009 World Maccabiah Games. Adelman also gained international coaching experience by taking a collection of professional basketball players to compete in Denmark against traditional powers: Hapoel Jerusalem, Eiffel Towers, Alba, Krka and Besiktas. In 1999 after successfully running the Loyola University Chicago Summer Basketball Camps, which was rated “one of top 100 things to do in Chicago people don’t know about” for an Internet magazine, Adelman began his Hoops Education Basketball Camps. He has run these summer basketball camps in Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh and Long Beach and still maintains his Hoops Education Camp in Chicago at the Windy City Fieldhouse. In New York from 2003-05 Adelman began running skills clinics throughout Westchester County for boys and girls of all ages, and started running weekly Hoops Education Basketball Classes for ages K-3rd grade, which he has continued running in the suburbs of Chicago. In 2006 Adelman began shooting specific skill classes with extreme success and also began teaching private lessons to kids from 5th-12th grade. David Adelman ran over 10 tournaments per year in Chicago from 2006-09 and supervised an average of 20-25 tournaments each year. He has successfully served as the tournament director for numerous tournaments that involved over 150 teams and 4 different facilities.
